About Salvatore J. Caravella, MD
Dr. Salvatore J. Caravella is a native Long Islander and has been predominantly educated and trained within the Long Island community. He resides with his wife, Monica, and their three children in the Harborfields school district and is extremely active within the community. Dr. Caravella joined the practice in 1988 after a three year research fellowship at Westchester County Medical Center. During his fellowship, he participated in numerous research endeavors and is well published in the pediatric medical literature. After his arrival in Huntington, his main goal was to modernize the neonatology service at Huntington Hospital which came to fruition in 1994 when full time 24hour/7 day neonatology in-house coverage began at the hospital. Today, he concentrates his efforts to ensure newborn, infant and child health through appropriate nutrition, parental guidance, and promotion of healthy lifestyles and exercise. His other interests include the child with special needs and pediatric neurobiological problems. Dr. Caravella is a member of the American Medical Association, the New York State Medical Society, the New York Pediatric Society, The Suffolk County Medical Society, the Suffolk County Pediatric Society and is a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Caravella is double board certified in Pediatrics and Neonatology.
About Eve Meltzer-Krief, MD
Dr. Meltzer attended Undergraduate School at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she majored in Comparative Literature. She went on to receive her medical degree from the Sackler School of Medicine in Tel-Aviv. She completed her Pediatric Residency training at Schneider Children's Hospital of Long Island Jewish Medical Center. She resides in Centerport with her husband who is a Pediatric Emergency Physician at Cohen Children’s Medical Center and her two children. Dr. Meltzer is a member of The Medical Society of the State of New York, The Suffolk County Medical Society, The Suffolk Pediatric Society and is a fellow of The American Academy of Pediatrics. Dr. Meltzer is committed to educating parents about all aspects pertaining to the health, well-being, and safety of their child. It is also very important to her that parents leave the office feeling reassured, with a real understanding of their child's condition and how to care for them. Dr. Meltzer is on the executive committee of the Long Island-Brooklyn/Queens chapter of the American Academy of Pediatrics where she serves as Legislative Advocacy chair. She is an outspoken advocate for children and was recognized as the “Woman of Distinction” for Suffolk County’s 18th Legislative District in 2018. She received the American Academy of Pediatrics Outstanding Achievement Award 2019 and a NYS Senate Commendation Award in 2019 for her advocacy work.
About Dr. Britta Mazur
Dr. Mazur graduated NY College of Osteopathic Medicine in 1989. She finished her pediatric residency at Nassau County Medical Center in 1992. After completing a 3 year fellowship in Pediatric Endocrinology she graduated from Winthrop University Hospital in 1995. Dr. Mazur has been practicing as a pediatrician in the Huntington area since 1995 and joined Huntington Village Pediatrics 3/1/2016 after closing her practice after 14 years.
About Dr. Bruce Gerberg
Dr. Bruce Gerberg has been practicing pediatric medicine in Huntington for 22 years. In 2020 he relocated to Duke University where he practiced pediatric urgent care medicine for 1 1/2 years. Dr. Gerberg returned to Huntington after realizing how much he missed his friends, family, and patients.
Dr. Gerberg was born in Queens, grew up in Venezuela, and moved back to the States where he attended high school and university. He speaks both English and Spanish fluently. His medical interests vary from urgent pediatric procedures and emergencies, ADHD, depression and anxiety, nutrition, and working with children and their families with special needs.
Dr. Gerberg completed his residency at Schneider’s Children’s Hospital (now Cohen’s Children’s Medical Center) and stayed on as chief resident before starting a private practice in Huntington. Dr. Gerberg served as Chair of Pediatrics at Huntington Hospital for 5 years and remains involved in the pediatric hospitalist program taking care of newborns and patients at Huntington Hospital. In his spare time, he loves to spend time with his family going to the beach, playing ball, and enjoying all that Long Island has to offer.
Dr. Gerberg lives in Huntington with his wife Nicole and 6 children, all of who were born in Huntington Hospital.
